Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia are getting divorced, just over a year after their wedding.
The former Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member filed for divorce from Guobadia in Atlanta, Georgia, People reported on Friday.
Their split comes amidst swirling online rumours regarding Guobadia’s citizenship status. However, a source informed the publication that the divorce is unrelated to recent allegations involving Simon’s past.
The reason behind their separation is described as an “ongoing matter,” according to the insider.
Williams, 42, and Guobadia, 59, tied the knot in November 2022 in a lavish Nigerian traditional ceremony, followed by a no expense spared ceremony in the US.
Their engagement was announced in May 2021, just one month into their relationship. “Yes, we are crazy in love,” Williams captioned an Instagram photo with Guobadia. “I know it’s fast, but we are living life to its fullest every day. I choose happiness every morning and every night.”
Guobadia echoed Williams’ sentiments, expressing that he proposed because they fulfilled all of each other’s criteria and then some.
Earlier this month, the reality star-turned-entrepreneur, who is also the mother of 4-year-old daughter Pilar from a previous relationship, revealed her return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta for its upcoming 16th season after a two-year hiatus from the Bravo series.
She also secured an overall scripted deal with NBCUniversal for “scripted project opportunities across the company’s broadcast and streaming platforms.”
“I’m incredibly thankful for the vision and faith NBCUniversal has placed in me to be a larger part of their family,” she stated. “I’m looking forward to returning to The Real Housewives of Atlanta and showcasing my new world to the world!”
Williams initially joined RHOA in its fifth season. Following her departure in season 13, she and Guobadia were featured together on the Real Housewives spinoff Porsha’s Family Matters in 2021.
Her latest appearance was in the third season of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, which aired last year.
