Beyoncé Announces Country-Influenced ‘Renaissance: Act II’ Album, Drops Two Songs on Super Bowl Sunday

Beyoncé thrilled fans on Sunday by dropping new music on her website, social media platforms, and in a Verizon advertisement.

This fresh musical offering serves as the second installment of her widely acclaimed 2022 Renaissance album, which has sparked longstanding rumours of a potential trilogy.

The unveiling included the release of two new tracks exclusively on Tidal: Texas Hold ‘Em and 16 Carriages.

In the Verizon commercial, Beyoncé charmingly manned a lemonade stand, a subtle nod to her 2016 album of the same name. Adding a playful twist, she playfully riffed on her name, with monikers like “Barbey,” reminiscent of Barbie, and “BOTUS,” humorously hinting at her potential presidential aspirations as the first female head of state.

Simultaneously, captivating teaser videos emerged on her website and Instagram, teasing the arrival of Act II set for March 29th.

The teaser video exudes a distinct country aesthetic, opening with a car speeding down a dusty road bearing the license plate “HOLD’EM.”

A medley of country tunes reminiscent of flipping through radio stations fills the air, featuring everything from yodeling melodies to Chuck Berry’s classic Maybelline.

Transitioning seamlessly into a country-infused track by Beyoncé herself, the teaser showcases her crooning, “Say Texas, ain’t no hold ’em, lay your cards down down down down.”

With her roots deeply planted in Houston, Texas, Beyoncé, alongside her family, including husband Jay-Z, graced the Super Bowl in Las Vegas on Sunday, witnessing the showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.

This eagerly anticipated album fuels ongoing speculation among fans, who have long suspected a trilogy in the making, with many convinced that this installment will showcase Beyoncé’s foray into the realm of country music.
