Meghan Markle Announces Podcast Deal and New Show After Spotify Departure

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have unveiled their next venture in the podcasting realm, following their departure from Spotify,

The Duchess of Sussex has inked a fresh podcasting deal with Lemonada Media, marking a significant move for the royal couple in the audio entertainment landscape.

Initially reported by Deadline and confirmed via an announcement on the couple’s newly launched website, Markle’s collaboration with Lemonada Media extends beyond the distribution of her previous Spotify series, Archetypes.

It comes amid news the Royal couple also have multiple new projects slated for release on Netflix.

While details regarding Markle’s upcoming podcast project remain under wraps, the Duchess expressed her excitement about joining forces with Lemonada Media.

“I’m proud to now be able to share that I am joining the brilliant team at Lemonada to continue my love of podcasting,” she said in a statement.

“Being able to support a female founded company with a roster of thought provoking and highly entertaining podcasts is a fantastic way to kick off 2024.

“Our plan to re-release Archetypes so that more people can now have access to it, as well as launching a dynamic new podcast are well in the works. I’m so eager to be able to share it soon, and am overjoyed to be joining the Lemonada family.”

Lemonada’s CEO and co-founder, Jessica Cordova Kramer, reciprocated Markle’s sentiments.

“We are beyond honored that Meghan has trusted us to help democratize access to Archetypes, and that so many more people around the world will have access to the series soon,” Kramer said.

“Meghan’s talent as host, creator and conversationalist is unparalleled and we are thrilled to co-create a new series with her that fosters her approach to creating art that matters.”

Markle and Prince Harry originally entered the podcasting arena in 2020 through a multi-year partnership with Spotify, under their production company, Archewell Audio.

However, in June 2023, the couple announced the conclusion of their collaboration with Spotify, stating their mutual pride in the series they had created together.

Despite the shift in platforms, Markle’s commitment to engaging storytelling remains steadfast.

A representative from WME, Markle’s talent agency, affirmed her dedication to developing content for the Archetypes audience on Lemonada Media.

Archetypes, which aired 12 episodes in 2022, garnered acclaim for its exploration of stereotypes affecting women, featuring notable guests such as Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, and Paris Hilton.

The podcast’s success was underscored by its recognition as the People’s Choice Award winner for Best Pop Podcast in 2022.
