Angela Bassett stole the spotlight as she graced the red carpet at the Critics’ Choice Awards, leading a procession of stars in stunning gowns.
The Hollywood icon exuded timeless elegance in a sleek black Pamella Roland dress adorned with bejeweled shoulder details during the awards ceremony where she took the stage to present the coveted best supporting actor award on Sunday.
At 65, Bassett showcased her ageless beauty, complementing her look with a youthful matte makeup and her hair styled in loose waves.
Her ensemble was tastefully accessorized with an embellished bracelet from Suzanne Kalan Fine Jewelry and striking black and white diamond drop earrings by Jewels Aficionado.
During the 29th annual ceremony at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, Bassett had the honour of presenting the prestigious award to Robert Downey Jr. for his outstanding supporting film role in Oppenheimer.
The accolades continue to pour in for Bassett, as just last week, she received a well-deserved tribute at the 14th Governors Awards.
There, she graciously accepted an Honorary Oscar in recognition of her significant contributions to the world of film.
In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Bassett took a moment to acknowledge the trailblazing Black actresses who paved the way for her, while also highlighting the contemporary talents she admires, including Viola Davis, Regina King, Jennifer Hudson, and Octavia Spencer.
She eloquently addressed the ongoing struggle for diversity within the film industry, emphasizing the need for continued efforts to uplift underrepresented voices.
“I proudly share this honor with women who stand up when they are told to stand back, who speak up when they are silenced, who remain determined when they’re told they’re defeated,” she said.
“These women represent those that I’ve had the honor to portray, as well as the everyday women who surround us and inspire us to keep striving.”
