Princess of Wales Kate Middleton is set to make her first public appearance in months at The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend, marking a significant step in her ongoing journey of recovery.
The Princess, 42, recently shared a heartfelt health update alongside a new photo, the first since her emotional video in March where she publicly disclosed her cancer diagnosis.
The latest image shows Kate posing solo outdoors in Windsor, where she resides with Prince William and their three children. Dressed casually in jeans and a blazer, her arms folded, the photograph exudes strength and serenity.
“I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months,” she said in her statement. “It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.”
“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” she said.
“On those bad days, you feel weak, tired, and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”
Her ongoing battle with cancer means that her treatment will continue for “a few more months.” Despite the challenges, she finds joy in her daily life and work when she feels well enough.
“On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home,” she shared.
Princess Kate confirmed her plans to attend Trooping the Colour, King Charles’ official birthday celebration, on June 15. This event will mark her first public appearance with the royals since Christmas.
“I’m looking forward to attending the King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet,” she said. “I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal.
“Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.”
While Kate’s return to public life is eagerly awaited, it is clear that she will balance her royal duties with her health needs. No specific plans have been made regarding future outings, but she will attend events as her condition allows. This period does not signify a full-time return to her royal responsibilities, as her priority remains her recovery and well-being.
