Marvel Studios Drops Jonathan Majors Following Guilty Verdict

Hollywood actor Jonathan Majors, once seen as a rising star, has been let go by Marvel Studios after being found guilty of reckless assault and harassment involving his British ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari.

A New York City jury made the decision after less than three days of deliberation, finding the 34-year-old actor guilty on two counts while not guilty on two others. The verdict followed a two-week trial related to a domestic violence incident in March.

Majors, known for his roles in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Creed III, was previously positioned as a key figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, set to lead Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in 2026.

However, Disney-owned Marvel reconsidered its plans in the aftermath of Monday’s guilty verdict and is said to be contemplating whether to recast the role or shift focus to a new villain.

The Hollywood Reporter insiders suggest that Marvel had already been exploring alternatives, with Loki creator Michael Waldron working on a new draft referred to as Avengers 5.

Majors, once considered an Oscar contender for his role in Searchlight’s now-shelved Magazine Dreams, has always maintained his innocence.

He was previously dropped by PR firm The Lede Company and Entertainment 360 in the wake of his legal woes. While still represented by WME, his future in the industry remains uncertain.

He now faces potential jail time of up to one year, with sentencing scheduled for February 6.
