Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly has continued her attacks against presidential hopeful Kamala Harris, who looks set to secure the Democratic nomination.
Days after Kelly raised eyebrows with racist remarks about the first Black, South Asian, and female Vice President in U.S. history, the former Fox News host has now claimed Harris “slept her way” into politics.
Speaking on her Sirius XM show, The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly alleged that Harris got her start by having an affair with married California politician Willie Brown.
“I will not be shamed out of discussing this by people who say it’s slut shaming or it’s not relevant,” Kelly ranted.
“It is relevant when a young candidate tries to sleep her way into politics and into power. And that is what it appears Kamala Harris did when she was a young, political aspirant in San Francisco when she had an affair with a man 30 years older than she was… Willie Brown, who is like the godfather of San Francisco politics and very well known.”

Disagree. She actually did sleep her way into and upwards in California politics and most women (and men) may learn that and see it for what it is: evidence of an unqualified political aspirant getting ahead based on smthg other than merit. It’s relevant, and fair game. https://t.co/qIrx0xGC6a

However, a Time magazine fact-check report has dispelled Kelly’s claim, pointing out that Brown was actually separated from his wife during the relationship, which was not a secret.
“Brown, 90, is a former mayor of San Francisco who was serving as speaker of the California State Assembly in the 1990s when he and Harris were in a relationship. Brown had separated from his wife in 1982,” the article states.

In 2020, Brown wrote in the San Francisco Chronicle that he backed Harris, 59, in her initial campaign for San Francisco District Attorney, much like he has endorsed numerous other California politicians, such as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, former Senator Dianne Feinstein, and Governor Gavin Newsom.
Harris served as California’s Attorney General from 2011 to 2017 and then as a U.S. Senator from 2017 to 2021, before becoming Vice President. She has been married to Doug Emhoff since 2014.
This controversy follows a whirlwind week for Harris, after President Joe Biden’s abrupt withdrawal from the November election. On Sunday, he announced that he would not be seeking re-election in the 2024 presidential race and threw his support behind the Vice President.
Since then, other leading Democrats have followed suit, and Harris is likely to become the official party nominee.
