Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion Feud Explained

Nicki Minaj is furious over Megan Thee Stallion’s new diss track Hiss.

In the controversial song, Megan, 28, appears to take a dig at Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender, while alluding to Megan’s Law—a federal law mandating the disclosure of information about registered sex offenders by law enforcement.

Petty was convicted in 1995 for attempted rape of a 16-year-old, and he served four years in prison. In July 2022, he got three years probation and one year of home detention for not registering as a sex offender in California.

“These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law/ I don’t really know what the problem is, but I guarantee y’all don’t want me to start/ B—h, you a p—y, never finna check me/ Every chance you get, bet your weak ass won’t address me,” Megan raps.

In response, Minaj, 41, took to Instagram Live on Friday to share a preview of an unreleased track, in which she fired back at Megan. The lyrics reference the incident where Megan was shot in the foot by artist Tory Lanez in 2020.

The case concluded last year with Lanez being sentenced to prison.

Minaj raps in the snippet: “Bad b—h she like six foot, I call her Big Foot/ The b—h fell off, I said get up on your good foot.”

During the Live session, an enraged Minaj acknowledged her wordplay and criticised Megan’s rapping skills, saying, “You have three Grammys and you have to learn how to rap on the beat and be comfortable in the music.”

Minaj continued her commentary on Instagram Live, even making reference to Megan’s mother who passed away in 2019.

“You bringing up 30-year-old tea from when this man was a 15-year-old child. You bringing up 30-year-old tea cause no man will ever f—ing love you, and lying on your dead mother,” Minaj said on Live.

Not stopping there, Minaj went on Stationhead, a radio app, to further discuss the matter, calling out Megan for allowing others to be thrown “under the bus” and urging her to apologize to those affected.

On social media, Minaj labeled Megan a “disgusting serpent” and mentioned Megan’s Law, adding a hashtag with the phrase “#Meganraw” for a free beat.

While Minaj clarified that she does not condone bullying, she accused Megan of being a “pathological & manipulative liar” and alleged that she uses ghostwriters while still being subpar.

Hiss, co-produced by LilJuMadeDaBeat and Bankroll Got It, is the second single from Megan’s upcoming third album.

Minaj and Megan, who collaborated on the 2019 hit single Hot Girl Summer, seemed to be on good terms prior to Friday, despite previous whispers of tension.

In March 2023, XXL Magazine reported that Minaj dropped a song called Red Ruby Da Sleeze, where she mentioned horses in the first verse.

The lyrics went: “Seven-hundred on ’em horses when we fixin’ to leave (Uh-oh)/But I don’t mess with horses since Christopher Reeves.”

Some fans thought Minaj might have been targetting Megan with this line, though the reason for the jab is unclear.

In a separate article from September 2022, the outlet mentioned a potential disagreement when Minaj claimed on Queen Radio that someone suggested she drank alcohol during her pregnancy.

Megan later denied it was her.

On Friday, Minaj posted a tweet mentioning Megan’s late mother and suggesting that Megan lied in her April 2022 interview with Gayle King regarding her situation with Lanez.

The tweet also brought up Megan’s ex-boyfriend, Pardison Fontaine, who they reported broke up in 2023.

Minaj continued by retweeting Fontaine’s new single, THEE PERSON, believed by many to be about Megan.

In another post, Minaj referred to Megan as a “disgusting” serpent.

Later that night, on radio platform Stationhead and Instagram Live, she further criticised Megan, saying, “You’re bringing up 30-year-old stuff because no man has ever or will ever truly love you.”
