Rare Beauty, the cosmetics company founded by renowned singer and actress Selena Gomez, has taken a bold step in the midst of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.

In an official statement released via Instagram on Tuesday, Rare Beauty announced its commitment to humanitarian aid efforts in the region and condemned acts of violence against civilians on all sides.

The company pledged to make donations to two prominent humanitarian organizations on the ground, the International Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, as well as Magen David Adom, an Israeli counterpart. These organizations are providing essential emergency care and support to those affected by the conflict.

In addition to supporting these humanitarian groups, Rare Beauty also committed to making contributions to UNICEF.

These funds will be used to ensure urgent medical relief and essential resources reach the children of Gaza, who are particularly vulnerable in the ongoing crisis.

Rare Beauty’s full statement:

We are devastated by the images & reports coming from the Middle East.

Thousands of innocent Palestinian civilians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes & millions of civilians have been displaced & left without access to food, water, medicine, or basic
necessities for survival. A large number of these victims are children. Palestinian civilians must be protected, period.

We remain heartbroken by the horrible terror attack against innocent civilians in Israel on October 7th, many of them also children. There is no situation where attacks on civilians are acceptable. We strongly denounce any & all forms of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.

We urge everyone to support humanitarian organizations working tirelessly to provide aid & relief to those in need. Every bit of help can make a difference.

Rare Beauty will be making donations to the International Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies – Magen David Adom, & Palestinian Red Crescent Society – who are providing urgent care on the ground. We will also be donating to UNICEF to help get urgent medical relief & resources to the children of Gaza.

The DNA of our company is rooted in inclusivity. Our company is diverse & employs individuals from various backgrounds including race, creed, sexuality, gender identity, & religion – many of whom have been directly impacted by the recent violence.

We also recognize that our community is made up of many people from different backgrounds who are also affected by the recent violence, so we ask that everyone please treat each other with kindness & compassion during these times.

As a company that aims to reduce the stigma associated with mental health, we understand that in these particularly trying global circumstances everyone’s mental health is suffering. We encourage you to reach out if you need help.

Rare Beauty’s announcement is a response to the escalating violence that has taken a toll on both Israelis and Palestinians.

In the statement, Rare Beauty specifically condemned the horrifying terror attack against innocent civilians in Israel that occurred on October 7. The attack claimed the lives of 1400 people, including children, and left communities in shock and mourning.

The statement reads: “We remain heartbroken by the horrible terror attack against innocent civilians in Israel on October 7th, many of them also children. There is no situation where attacks on civilians are acceptable. We strongly denounce any [and] all forms of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.”

This firm stance comes after Gomez, 31, faced criticism for her initial response to the conflict, which some considered vague.

In a previous Instagram post, Gomez had condemned the violence without explicitly indicating her support for either side, leading to backlash and demands for a clearer position, the London Evening Standard reported.

With this announcement, Rare Beauty aims to show its commitment to providing aid and support to those affected by the ongoing conflict, emphasizing the importance of humanitarian efforts and unity during times of crisis.

Rare Beauty’s support for both sides of the conflict underscores the need for peace, reconciliation, and the protection of innocent lives in the region.
